Royal Automobile Club Historic Awards 2025

The Royal Automobile Club is preparing to celebrate the stars of Britain’s historic motoring and motorsport worlds at its seventh annual Historic Awards. And the winners will finally be revealed at a glittering celebration in Pall Mall, London on Thursday, 20 November.

These Awards are important accolades for Britain’s thriving historic car industry in its widest sense and are overseen by independent specialist judges.

Each judge is chosen for their knowledge and experience in their particular award category. Now they have done their expert work for 2025, scrutinising the long list of very strong nominations which were received this year. After much debate and reflection, the finalists have now been chosen; all the judges now have to do is to whittle those shortlists down to the eventual winners!

The 2025 Royal Automobile Club Historic Awards finalists are:

Restoration (supported by Bicester Motion)

·  1924 Hispano-Suiza H6C ‘Boulogne’ – Jonathan Wood Ltd

·  1926 Rally Grand Sport Type S – David Foster, Bob Thredder & Tom Hardman

·  1953 Jaguar C-type – Anthony Purnell, Pendine Historic Cars & CKL Developments

International Historic Motoring Awards

Experts and enthusiasts from across the globe made a record number of nominations in 15 categories. This year’s contenders have been selected in categories recognising excellence in areas ranging from outstanding restorations and internationally acclaimed events to exceptional individual achievements.

Those who have made it onto the shortlists now advance to the final stage of judging, from which a distinguished panel of experts and prominent figures from the motoring world will determine the winners. The judges include Octane columnist Jay Leno, Pebble Beach’s Sandra Button and designer Peter Stevens.

The winners – together with the recipients of the publicly voted Car of the Year and the esteemed Lifetime Achievement Award – will be announced at a prestigious ceremony and gala dinner, to be held at the luxurious Peninsula London hotel on Grosvenor Place, Belgravia, on November 14. The evening will be hosted by renowned broadcaster and racing driver Amanda Stretton and promises to be a highlight of the historic motoring calendar.

Celebrating its 15th running in 2025, the International Historic Motoring Awards honours excellence across the classic and performance car world. This year’s event is proudly presented in conjunction with Lockton and supported by Castrol Classic Oils, Classic Car Register, Petersen Automotive Museum, Nyetimber, Revs Institute, and Octane and Magneto magazines.

Incredible car. Lovely history.

Sourced in New Zealand for the Purnell Family by Pendine, we undertook the restoration in 2024, returning the car to its striking 1954 Finnish racing colours. Chassis XKC 044 made its first public appearance in a quarter of a century at the 2025 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, where it was awarded Second in Class [Post-War Sports], before performing faultlessly on the Colorado Grand this September.

Once again the team at CKL put blood sweat and tears into the car to get it ready in a time period which wouldn’t have been achieveable until recently. I don’t know of any other team in the world who have achieved an award at Pebble Beach three years running…and we are doing these concours restoration in 8-12 months - thats all down to the work ethic of the guys in the shop

I take my hat off to them.
